EVOLUTION is the unifying idea for all of the life sciences. It's the most important concept in biology, affecting everything from how we grow our food and practice medicine to what it means to be human and our place in the natural world. Australopithecus provides resources for teachers, students, and researchers to get involved in the science of human evolution.

evolvED Links to websites, games, and books for teaching and understanding how evolution works and how our species evolved. Teaching materials including syllabi and lecture slides. Labs for students to explore evolution and the fossil record. Videos cover important concepts in human evolution.

Data Mine Compiled data from the fossil record, the lab, and the field, from hominin brain size and femur lengths to ape energy expenditure and ranging ecology. Photos of hominin fossils.

Australopithecus.org is produced by Herman Pontzer, an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Hunter College and the City University of New York. His research focuses on biomechanics and energetics of humans, apes, and fossil hominins. For more on his research, check out his lab website.
